Privacy
This prototype is designed to keep as little information about you as possible. Conversations are not saved.
Your conversation
Your conversation is kept only in this browser tab. It is gone when you close or reload the page. It is not stored on our server and there are no accounts.
Who sees your questions
To answer a question, we send the conversation to an AI model through OpenRouter. The model's searches are sent to the GOV.UK search service and to Exa, a search provider. Pages are read from official public-sector websites, or from Exa's copy of a page when a site blocks automated reading. These providers handle data under their own privacy policies.
Information we keep for a short time
- If your question is the first in a conversation, we may keep the answer and its sources for up to 2 hours, so the same question gets the same answer more quickly. We keep a one-way hash of the question, not the question itself.
- To limit each person to 20 questions an hour, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for up to an hour.
- We keep a running total of what the service has cost to run today, with no information about who asked what.
Location
We use your approximate location, provided by Cloudflare, to guess whether you are in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. We do not store it.
Bot checks and cookies
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that questions come from people rather than automated programs. Read Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
